As a new year has made it's entrance... let's talk about a new resolution!
Now, why don't we start with the beginning... breakfast!
Just how important is breakfast?
First of all, while you're sleeping your body is relying on its nutrient reserves to keep you going through the night. The reason breakfast is called breakfast is because you are literally "breaking your fast", so your morning meal is the best time to top up your reserves. Those of you trying to lose weight will be thinking, 'I don't need reserves, I have plenty of them already!' You may have those 'reserves' but skipping breakfast will send the message to your body that you are starving and doesn't know where its next meal is coming from (after all you've not eaten all night)! So, as a protective mechanism, your metabolism (the rate at which you burn calories) slows down, so that when your body get the fuel it needs, such as that croissant at 11 o'clock, it won't 'burn' it as fast as it should. The result?
Unwanted weight gain.
So why not make it your new year's resolution to eat a good, healthy breakfast every morning?? Not only it is one of the few proven strategies for losing weight and keeping it off but also better for your mood and temper!!
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day!
Is training in the morning better? Yes it is!
